Grounded Architecture

‘You and I, together we relate.
Highly critical to surprise and be proud.’

A tree is as strong as its roots are deep. The same applies to our architecture. At Zecc we work from three basic principles: what we build must be functional, developed from sustainable principles and at the same time stimulate all your senses. Uniting these principles is where Zecc's strength lies.

Architecture with a solid foundation. With deep roots, because the most beautiful ideas grow from there. We call it Grounded Architecture.

'The deeper the roots, the higher the vision.'

Experience value, use value and future value
Zecc designs clear buildings with a stimulating appearance; rational architecture with subtle nuances or sturdy buildings with refined details. The pursuit of clarity and excitement is not only an end goal for our architecture, but is also used as a design method.

Besides stimulating the senses, our designs are above all functional. A good organization of different functions must be in balance with a high experience value. We always work based on the specific conditions of the building or the historical layering of a place. Within the wishes and frameworks of the client, boundaries are explored and depth is sought. As a result, a pragmatic basic idea becomes increasingly sharp and exciting in its elaboration.

Zecc wants to make a positive contribution to the transition to a more sustainable built environment. We consider the concept of sustainability in the broadest sense of the word. That is why we look for design solutions with flexibility, aesthetic sustainability and technological innovation. We design in a nature-inclusive way where possible and look for the possibility of repurposing existing real estate.

Thema's

TOGETHER
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT. FINDING, HOLDING AND DEVELOPING LINES.

For over 15 years, Zecc has worked together in a passionate team to get the most out of every project. Not just within Zecc, but beyond. It's about sharing knowledge and working with inspired clients to achieve high quality and sustainable projects.

RELATE
MOVE BETWEEN CONTEXT AND ESSENCE, IN BOTH DESIGN AND RELATIONSHIPS.

People are the users of our buildings and are central to the design process. Each client's unique question is taken as the starting point. Zecc likes to work directly with the end users to create functional and beautiful buildings. A permanent awareness of the context in which you work, from people to the development of technology.

CRITICAL

A GOOD DESIGN IS THOUGHT THROUGH TO THE FINER DETAILS AND FELT THROUGH TO THE ENDS.

A good design is based on clear principles. In the process, we take the space to question the starting points sharply.Detailing and use of materials have an important role. We explore applications of new and old materials and take care of refined details within the force field of regulations and quality standards. We are critical in the search for the best solution. A high level of ambition is the basic attitude.

SURPRISE

DARE TO SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY. USE THE POWER OF CREATIVITY.

Through the powerful process of creativity, the best ideas arise.

PROUD
BE AWARE OF THE BEAUTY YOU CREATE TOGETHER AND EXPERIENCE IT WITH PRIDE.
Sharing together enthusiasm about results achieved and taking time to empower inspiring collaboration as a team. Expressing your appreciation to all who contribute to the final result. Working together with pride on extraordinary projects. That is our drive.

Expertise

The five principles of Zecc

Zecc is a mature firm with two core activities: project-based housing construction and transformation of existing buildings and areas. In complex residential building projects, we regularly take on a coordinating role. Managing complexity and realizing sustainable and affordable buildings is something we are proud of.

We have extensive experience with Design & Build projects and construction team projects in a LEAN process with integrated BIM design methodologies, which we use both in the initial phase and in the elaboration of buildings.

We are aware of the ongoing changes around us. Innovation and adjustments in the built environment are necessary with a view to a more sustainable future. At the start and during the project we analyze where possible opportunities may lie with respect to sustainability. In this we are not dogmatic, but seek the right balance between functionality, aesthetics, cost and sustainability.

Architect of the Year 2020
In 2020 Zecc was awarded Architect of the Year, a wonderful recognition of the wide range of projects, quality and relevance of our work to the profession. Read more

Beeldborrel

An informal way to exchange ideas and inspire each other.

Zecc Architects regularly organizes image lectures "Beeldborrels". In the past fifteen years, guests have included Nanne De Ru, Job Floris, Liesbeth van der Pol, Space Encounters, Mels Crouwel, Happel Cornelisse Verhoeven, Team V and Anne Holtrop to share their inspiring stories with our audience. The themes for these much discussed evenings range from the architectural detail to limitless ambitions. The lectures keep us on our minds, get us moving and provide new energy.
